Our Team

Doug & Dionne Irvine

I am often asked two questions, first; how did I convince Dionne to marry me? Second, what made you get into the wine business? The answer to the first question is easy…I’m irresistible. The answer to the second question is still a mystery.

Dionne and I come from a background of real estate development and investments. Not exactly the ideal skill set needed to become vintners. I tend to push the limits, tell horrible jokes and embellish a story whenever possible. I am pretty sure I am that crazy uncle people talk about. I am a dirt dog and a deal junkie, and love a challenge. I am also blessed to have Dionne as my wife and partner. She is the glue that keeps it all together and is very business savvy. Dionne has impeccable taste when it comes to design, and her palette is second to none. She is soft-spoken and always elegant, but is quick to give me the look when I cross the line.

We were new to farming grapes or making wine when we planted our first vine in 2006.  Living on an 80 acre ranch in the burgeoning southern Oregon wine region and after drinking too much wine on a trip to France and Italy, I thought it would be a brilliant idea to plant a vineyard on our property, and somehow I convinced Dionne to agree. When we decided to move forward on planting a vineyard we committed to growing and crafting the very best wine possible, regardless of price. We had no interest in being just average or good. We sought out and retained the best wine team in the business to help us perfect our vision.

Early on we discovered that our high elevation east facing sloped property had ideal soils and terroir to grow beautiful Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the style of Burgundy. So we planted, and shortly after our first harvest, realized that our vineyard was indeed something special. Irvine Family Vineyards has become recognized for growing beautifully balanced Pinot noir and Chardonnay grapes that allow us to craft unique, ultra-premium wines. We are passionate in what we do. From the vineyard to the bottle, we are committed to learn and improve on each and every harvest.

Robert Brittan
Consulting Winemaker

Robert was the first winemaker at Far Niente in California, then spent 16 years as winemaker and estate manager at Stags’ Leap Winery before fulfilling his dream of making Pinot Noir and Syrah from cooler climates at Brittan Vineyard in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. A graduate of University of California at Davis, he has over 30 years of experience in making wine.

Herb Quady

Herb grew up on the Quady Winery in Central California with a compulsory love for Muscat, but after an accidental exposure to the world of Rhone varieties at the hand of the infamous Randall Graham, he became obsessed with the idea of making (gasp!) table wines. After earning his winemaking props at Fresno State, he eventually found his way into the great unknown of Southern Oregon; where he founded Quady North Winery.

Brian Grubber

Brian started working with Quady North in 2009 and co-founded Barrel 42 Custom Winecraft with Herb Quady in 2014. Prior to Barrel 42, Brian spent five years at Troon Vineyard, filling numerous roles including vineyard management, winemaking, production, and general management. Brian also spent five years in the wine industry in Virginia, creating and managing Walnut Grove Vineyards.
